AVAIL: NOV - FEB
Over the years it has blossomed into a thriving farm and multi award winning gourmet produce retailer. We specialise in giving health conscious locals the freshest produce so that they can eat well and feel great. While so much has changed from our humble beginnings, family is still at the heart of everything we do. With over four generations of farming experience, we’ve learnt a few things about how to grow high-quality produce.
Eating food that is in season provides
more nutrition and more flavour!

Beetroot
AVAIL: ALL YEAR
Sam draws on three generations of horticultural experience to grow fresh, sweet and full-flavoured beetroot.
When we harvest, we only hand-pick beetroot if it is the right size for the season (smaller at the start of the season and larger towards the end). If the beetroot is too large, it tends to be tougher and more woody in taste. It must have dark green leaves, a smooth & hard bulb, and a deep red-purple colouring (all of which are good indicators of quality and taste).
We harvest all beetroot by hand, to ensure quality and minimise bruising.
Butter Lettuce
AVAIL: ALL YEAR
Lettuce is a perennial crop, so we plant, cultivate and hand pick it all year round. We harvest when the leaves are crisp and turgid, the head is full in colour and the head is firm and springy. We also make sure the head is free of any signs of decay, there are no yellow or wilting leaves on the plant, and the shape of the head is close to symmetrical.

AVAIL: JAN-MAR
Our famous tomato – named after Angie, the seed for Grandpa’s tomatoes has been passed down through the generations of our family.
They are full of flavour and have a unique shape – they really are the way tomatoes were meant to be!
We draw on over 70 years of horticultural experience to grow delicious, flavoursome and gourmet Grandpa’s tomatoes.
We only hand-pick grandpa’s tomatoes if they are plump and heavy for their size (density is a good indicator of flavour).
We also make sure the tomatoes have a firm, shiny skin (no wrinkles).
We then pass them through an aroma test – the tomato should have a slight, crisp aroma which increases with ripeness.
Grandpas Tomatoes
Our famous Grandpa’s tomatoes - named after Angie
AVAIL: JAN - MAR
The seed for Grandpa’s tomatoes has been passed down through the generations of our family.
Every year we plant our seeds in the month of June, then wait for our uniquely shaped, full flavoured tomatoes to ripen. They are then hand harvested and sold exclusively in the shop. They really are the way tomatoes were meant to be!
We also have our very own range of relish, chutney, pasta and tomato sauces (and more!) made from produce harvested from our farm!! The range is available both at the shop or for you to order online!!
